Human-Computer Interaction Institute

John is an interaction designer and researcher. He teaches courses on interaction design, service innovation, design theory, and HCI methods. His research falls into four areas; interaction with intelligent systems, designing for the self, public service innovation via social computing, and research through design.

Nik is an Assistant Professor at Carnegie Mellon's Human-Computer Interaction Institute, where he leads a research lab focused on augmenting designer's capabilities using new technology and design methods. With a background in product design methods, interaction design, human-robot interaction, and mechatronic engineering, Nik is passionate about creating interactive and intelligent products that are more human-centered.

Hong Shen is an Assistant Research Professor at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Hong's research focuses on the social and policy implications of digital platforms and algorithmic systems. Through her work, she aims to understand the impact of these systems on society and to develop insights that can inform policy decisions and shape the development of future technologies.
